Artistic Director of ACT - A Contemporary Theatre, John has directed at Playwrights Horizons NY, Ensemble Studio Theater NY, the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, The Lookingglass Theatre in Chicago, Circle X in Los Angeles, The Resident Ensemble Players in Delaware, American Player’s Theatre, the New Century Theatre, Washington Ensemble Theaters of Seattle, Seattle Shakespeare Company, and ACT - A Contemporary Theatre, where he is currently Associate Artistic Director and will be Artistic Director in 2016. John received his degree from the University of North Caroline School of the Arts.  Some of his favorite directing credits include: The Seagull (Broadway World mention for Best Classical Production of the Year), King Lear (Seattle Footlight Award for Best Production of the Year), The Shaggs Philosophy of the World (Los Angeles Drama Critic Circle Award for Best Original Musical, Backstage Garland Award for Best Direction), Brothers Karamazov (seven LADCC Awards including Best Production of the year and Best Direction). John received the first Seattle Gregory Award honoring excellence in direction for The Adding Machine, and has shepherded over a dozen projects to their premieres. The original musical The Shaggs, which he directed and co-created, was nominated for Lucille Lortel and Drama Desk awards celebrating excellence Off-Broadway.
